The Faculty of Canon Law is a specialist faculty. It aims to promote and deepen the study of Canon Law and related sciences, and to provide students, clerics or laypersons with in-depth training in these subjects. It seeks to provide sources and to help students acquire the critical judgment and methods required for scientific research, teaching, or carrying out tasks entrusted to them by the Church.
The faculty uses the best methods available in order to achieve its objectives. In particular it employs study programmes, the publication of scientific reviews and collections, the creation of research groups, the organisation of scientific conferences or sessions within the framework of the Catholic University of Paris. It also collaborates with other organisations, both ecclesiastical and civil.
The faculty prepares students for the canonical grades in Canon Law which it confers in the name of the Holy See.
