Calixte and Rachel: A Rewarding Adventure in South Korea

At the age of twenty, Calixte and Rachel decided to embark on an unforgettable experience in South Korea, participating in a four-month university exchange in Seoul during their undergraduate studies in Social Sciences. They share their journey with us.

Korea: A Choice for a Change of Scenery

Calixte and Rachel had always felt the urge to travel to Asia to explore a new culture. Faced with the variety of destination options offered by the ICP, and with the support of the International Relations Office (DRI), they chose South Korea. Their stay was filled with surprises, particularly on a cultural level, such as the initial shyness of the locals. They quickly realized how warm and welcoming the Koreans were once approached; fascinated by France, they were eager to make new connections. Despite the language barrier, Calixte and Rachel appreciated the kindness of the people. Their academic experience was also enriching: the classes were smaller, the students were highly focused on their studies, and the professors were motivated, caring, and engaging.

The Exchange: A Life Lesson

Back in France, Calixte and Rachel hold onto the memories of this unique experience: they explored Seoul and traveled across the country for several months with a constant sense of freedom and excitement. By adapting to the local culture, they gained maturity and perspective. This experience was synonymous with openness and discovery.

Their adventure in South Korea will remain a cherished memory; they were transformed and influenced in their life choices. Nonetheless, they are happy to be back in France, if only for the bread and sausage!
