Introduction

This course aims at providing students with specific skills for academic essay writing in the field of social sciences: paragraph writing, presentation of the topic, linguistic tools (grammatical revision, the complex sentence, linking terms).

Objectives

The objective of the course is to give students the ability to write consistent texts and complex sentences.

Admission

Prerequisites training

- intermediate knowledge of basic grammatical structures in English (tenses, modals, voices, subordinations)
- intermediate writing skills
- intermediate lexical knowledge

Program

Methods of Instruction

The brochure online is used to practice exercises on complex sentences and writing exercises (how to link arguments in a consistent argumentative text, how to put the focus on major ideas in a text).
 

Assessment and Final Grade

Homework and/or tests about writing texts and grammatical structures.
 

Course Requirements

Students should be able to write consistent texts using complex sentences and various linking terms and develop a personal position about a particular topic by discussing arguments and counterarguments.
