Introduction

The classes offer a survey of the different period of history and their representations in film from the ancient world to the modern period. It will stress some of the aspects of British and American history in relationship to the evolution of film itself and the approach to its outlook on the different events. Techniques such as editing and cinematography will be examined as well as the notion of entertainment industry. A project around a film suggested in class either by the instructor and the students and/or a final exam. The students are highly encouraged to participate and be interactive on the proposed material.
