This course serves as an avenue to develop oral speaking skills through an introduction to English-language media with a focus on the written press as well as the vast media landscape. Various forms of English-language media, including newspapers, magazines, photographs, political cartoons, radio, music, television, and internet media will be explored. Essential vocabulary will also be mastered. The aim is to understand the political, social, and historical influences on the dissemination of information and be able to express critical thinking ideas related to the anglophone sphere.
Objectives
Students are expected to develop an analytical appreciation and reach thoughtful conclusions regarding how to interpret and read news, media, and global circulation of ideas today through the variety of outlets within the anglophone world.
